The B.E.S.T. Academy

About b.e.s.t. academy

The B.E.S.T. (Business, Engineering, Science, and Technology) Academy is a public all-male school in Atlanta, Georgia, servicing students from grades 6-12. Its mission is to provide a caring, collaborative and rigorous single-gender environment where the community of learners empowers scholars to be college and career ready.

By incorporating a college preparatory curriculum and involvement from community partners, B.E.S.T. Academy creates a high-performing single-gender exemplar that produces transformational leaders who contribute to an ever-changing global society.

In partnership with the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc., the Emerging 100 of Atlanta helps B.E.S.T Academy achieve its mission by serving as direct mentors for students and providers of professional and academic support as well as leadership development services. The B.E.S.T. Academy committee is dedicated to guiding the scholar students we mentor at the local STEM program, offering valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth as they transition to the next phase of their lives. The committee measures impact through a transformative curriculum that promotes critical thinking and interpersonal skills.

On a monthly basis, Emerging 100 of Atlanta members interact with the seniors in character development sessions where members and mentees engage in discussion about valuable life topics that are in alignment with the Fulton County Student Success Skills model. Also, members and mentees are paired into one-on-one or small group mentoring relationships to create an avenue for mentees to receive more personalized mentoring year-round. Overall, our members help to curb the high school dropout rate by empowering these young men and helping to prepare them for ideal opportunities post-graduation.
